Dionne Warwick is an American singer, actress, and television host. Born on December 12, 1940, in East Orange, New Jersey, she began singing gospel music in her church choir. She rose to fame in the 1960s with hits like "Walk On By," "I Say a Little Prayer," and "Do You Know the Way to San Jose." She won her first Grammy Award in 1968 for "Do You Know the Way to San Jose." Warwick became known for her smooth, soulful voice and her collaborations with songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Her music incorporated elements of pop, R&B, and jazz, making her a crossover hit. In addition to her music career, Warwick has also acted in films and television shows, including a recurring role on the hit show "Ally McBeal." She has also hosted her own television show, "Solid Gold," in the 1980s. Throughout her career, Warwick has received numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She continues to perform and record music to this day.
