This film chronicles the ultimate demise of Hitler’s legendary Western Wall, dubbed by the allies as the ‘Siegfried Line’. The West Wall was a tremendous barrier of fortified defences and minefields, protecting Germany from invasion through Europe. In 1944, this line of defence was crushed, when following the D Day landings; the allied troops fought their way relentlessly to cross the line into Germany.
A documentary on the fierce battles that were fought between the Royal Navy and the Kreigsmarine in the Atlantic Ocean during the Second World War. Includes submarine attacks on the shipping convoys, hunting the submarine packs, RAF Coastal Command and battleship versus battleship warfare.
Remembering Arnhem, at first glance, may appear to be yet another version of the well told story. However this is not the case. This new film is not a detailed day to day narrative of the operation or a document of its failures. This is the moving real story told by the actual men that were there, from their own personal viewpoint and memories. In ‘Remembering Arnhem’ we have recorded the memoirs and personal accounts of a few selected combatants, men that took part. They tell their own personal stories and recollect their own individua experiences. The men we have chosen for this account were all recorded in their twilight years; and for many this film is probably their last public account of their experiences and memories of the ill-fated battle..’Their Last Post’.
This documentary is a dedicated yet moving account of Operation Millennium, the first 1,000 bomber raid by the RAF in World War Two. It was an extraordinary feat of organisation involving 1,048 bombers and 6,000 aircrew and 53 British airfields. The result; an awesome and unprecedented bombing raid which ultimately reduced the population of Cologne by ninety five percent.
This documentary covers the strategy and tactics of aerial warfare adopted by all the combatants during the Second World War. Including; how battles we won, aerial and bombings campaigns, fighter techniques, protection of the sea-lanes, spies in the sky, nightfighters and the individual fighter aces.
55,573 young men died flying with Bomber Command during World War Two; thats more than those who serve in the entire Royal Air Force today. This film is probably the last public account of those that survived. Recounting experiences and memories of serving in a force, where the odds of surviving were heavily stacked against them.
This fascinating documentary outlines the treatment and personal experiences of the many millions that were taken captive during the conflict
