According to the MEK, the Iraqi army did not participate in this operation. The goal was to occupy the Iranian border city of Mehran to control its oil fields, as well as Kurdish villages in the region. On February 20, 1962, John H. Glenn, Jr., became the first American to orbit Earth. An Atlas launch vehicle propelled a Mercury spacecraft into Earth orbit and enabled Glenn to circle Earth three times. The mission was named 'Friendship 7' by the astronaut. The flight lasted a total of 4 hours, 55 minutes, and 23 seconds before the Mercury spacecraft splashed down in the ocean. Most major systems worked smoothly, and the flight was a great success as an engineering feat.

On February 20, 1962, John H. Glenn, Jr., became the first American to orbit Earth. An Atlas launch vehicle propelled a Mercury spacecraft into Earth orbit and enabled Glenn to circle Earth three times. The mission was named 'Friendship 7' by the astronaut. The flight lasted a total of 4 hours, 55 minutes, and 23 seconds before the Mercury spacecraft splashed down in the ocean. Most major systems worked smoothly, and the flight was a great success as an engineering feat.

According to the MEK, the Iraqi army did not participate in this operation. The goal was to occupy the Iranian border city of Mehran to control its oil fields, as well as Kurdish villages in the region. In four days, the People's Mujahedin of Iran wiped out the Pasdaran division, seizing Mehran and building a bridgehead twelve miles into Iran

On February 20, 1962, John H. Glenn, Jr., became the first American to orbit Earth. An Atlas launch vehicle propelled a Mercury spacecraft into Earth orbit and enabled Glenn to circle Earth three times. The mission was named 'Friendship 7' by the astronaut. The flight lasted a total of 4 hours, 55 minutes, and 23 seconds before the Mercury spacecraft splashed down in the ocean. Most major systems worked smoothly, and the flight was a great success as an engineering feat.
