Sim Harris was a BBC employee who found himself in the middle of one of the most notorious hostage situations in modern history – the Iranian Embassy Siege. Born in London in 1948, Harris, visiting the embassy for a visa, found himself one of 26 hostages held by a group of Iranian militant students in the embassy building in London in 1980. Harris was one of the few male hostages, and spent six days in captivity before he was rescued by a team of British special forces soldiers. Despite the ordeal, Harris remained stoic and calm throughout his captivity, and went on to become a motivational speaker and commentator on terrorism. He released a book about his experience called "Crisis in the Embassy" and remained an important figure in the UK's counter-terrorism community.
